The online coding school Treehouse is introducing the first online certification for virtual reality (VR) developers. The twelve month course is designed to prepare for entry level positions at VR companies.
Treehouse has introduced the VR Techdegree in response to the rapid growth of the VR industry. As a recent paper from Research in China predicts the combined market for AR / VR will reach more than $120 billion by 2020.
The curriculum for the VR tech degree will include virtual app projects for students to complete. There will also be peer-to-peer support provided through slack and a final exam. Students successfully completing the course will receive a certificate.
Ryan Carson, CEO and founder of Treehouse, is optimistic about the opportunities for people pursuing work in virtual reality, as he says “VR is going to play a massive role in business in the future, driving a huge number of VR development jobs.”
The VR Techdegree will be offered in 2017 and cost from $199 a month.
