Classical musical fans will be able to feel what it feels like to stand centre stage thanks to a new virtual reality (VR) experience from the Philharmonia Orchestra. The VR experience has been developed by the Philharmonia in collaboration with London based VR agency Inition.
Luke Ritchie, Digital Director of the Philharmonia Orchestra describe the virtual reality experience as follows:
“It transport viewers into the South Bank, on the Thames in London, backstage onto the Royal Festival Hall and then onto the stage into the centre of the orchestra”
Elsa -Pekka Salone, the principal conductor & artistic advisor of the Philharmonia Orchestra, is very excited by the possibilities that virtual reality opens up for creative expression, as he points out
“creative artists have for a very long time have been dreaming about creating a world, where they would create the laws, the physics, the grammar and the syntax of this world, but for the first time we have the technology that will do it for you.”
Salone sees this as “the very first step in a really exciting development for the future.”
