Time has developed a VR experience which allows users to feel what it was like to be a child refugee fleeing the Nazi’s. Part of Time’s Life VR platform “Defying the Nazis VR” is a companion to the Ken Burns and Artemis Joukowsky documentary “Defying the Nazis: The Sharp’s War”.
The VR Experience depicts the story of child refugees who were forced to flee Nazi occupied France for the United States. In the VR experience you are on ship with the refugees as the travel from Portugal to the United States.
The VR experience includes actress Mario Bello reading a letter from Martha Sharp. Sharp was responsible for organizing the rescue mission along with her husband Waitstill. Users will also hear the real life stories of people who were passengers on the ship and experience of a recreation of the ship that was used in the mission.
